The 2012 spring/summer catwalks were brimming with gorgeous, retro inspired, playful, and can you believe it, wearable hair trends! Check out what looks complement this seasons 50’s fashion and retro dresses.
Trend 1: The Ponytail
Ponytails were on all of the summer/spring catwalks. From casual, low-slung and parted styles to 90’s inspired wrapped ponytails. These easy to pull off styles were everywhere! Pull your hair straight back from your hairline and pull as tight as possible to perfect this super easy and sheik style. Sectioned hair that’s gathered in three areas (the styles that were popular in the 90’s) were also super popular. Section hair into two or three ponytails and secure at the nape of the neck for this super stylish trend. The center-parted ponytail softens the ponytail look and looks uber sexy and evening ready when the ponytail is teased to mussed perfection.
Trend 2: The Deep Side Part
The side part offers instant sophistication to any look. Try it in a variety of styles including a swept back version that’s worn in a bun or low slung ponytail that’s perfect for the office. The side part doesn’t have to be all business. You can grunge the side part out by plaiting or waving your hair on the dominant part side and slicking back the other side and pinning or tucking it behind your ear.
Trend 3: Accessorized Up-Do’s
Up-do’s don’t have to be boring and that point was made loud and clear on the spring/summer runways. This season’s updo’s are all about pretty accessories, pretty headbands and stunning finishing touches. After all, they say the devils in the details. Add pretty pearl accented hairpins to low buns to add a touch of ladylike glamour. And never underestimate the power of teased up volume and pretty headband.
Trend 4: Glamorous Blow-Outs
Understated beauty looks were all the rage last spring, this season it’s time to amp up the glamour and get gorgeous. Pull out your hot rollers and dust off your round brush it’s time to shine and bounce your hair into galmorama mode! Center parts are still en vogue but the voluminous bombshell waves rocked by 50’s pinups and glamorous ladies of the 60’s are making big statements. Keep your look fresh from the heat by stashing a travel sized dry shampoo in your purse. If you’ve got natural waves, now’s the time to let it shine through! Work your bounce!
